Phil Ivey commented about the decline in Las Vegas gambling. In a sign of the times, Las Vegas casinos which once held regular juicy high-limit games have now seen their numbers dwindle dramatically, with Phil Ivey telling PokerListings:

“There’s still games in Vegas. Just not as many as there used to be. Four or five years ago you could count on there being a game four or five nights a week. Now there’s probably a game one or two nights.”

Phil Ivey won the award for being the best international player, but he did not receive the award in person. Apparently, France has poker awards. Who knew? They were given out at the EPT Deauville stop. Phil Ivey won for best “international player,” but he didn’t accept the award in person.

The high-stakes world has been a little bit stagnant in 2010. But there is a bit of news – Cole South (sponsored by Bingo Hollywood) took a pot of $600K from Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.

We’ve also been tracking the early success of Gus Hansen, who is up more than a million after being down more than $5M last year. However, he took some losses a few days ago, and had some choice words for his opponents in chat. An excerpt: “Gus Hansen: actually not very smart of me – Ziigmund has been the luckiest on Full Tilt for 3 years – Cole South the luckiest in 2009 and Eazy Peazy is just lucky and good.”
